1/16th dot is my preference,it allows me to center the crosshairs on the center of the dot on both the ARA Target and PSL Target. It also seems to focus my eye to the center of the cross hairs....

Hopefully, you have a real benchrest stock with a 3" FLAT forend.(unlike those pictured above) If so, it will ride the bags or one piece rest consistently. I agree the only thing that should touch...
But, the best equipment can help you shoot one. I would use a March over all other choices. Just a personal preference based upon trying many scopes. Thanks Fred
