What is considered to be the maximum firing pin protrusion for a Remington bolt?
A friend has a Rem 700 in 22 PPC and it occasionally punches through the primer. The load is below maximum.

A man is drinking at a bar, when a very attractive blonde lady in quite a skimpy dress moves in next to him.
"Mmmmm, she said, you smell nice....what have you got on?"
To which he replied..

G'day mate....I'd like to see that!
Well down here in Australia it looks as though there might be another primer shortage coming up.
So...to settle an argument...which primers have the hardest cups? I have a small supply of a number...
A great loss to the benchrest community.
I always looked forward to a chat with Gene at the various WBC's.
Condolences to the family and friends

It was a shock to hear of both Tony and Gene on the serious sick list.
Our thoughts are with both and their families

A real shock to hear this. I met Dan at the WBC in Canada last year. What a nice guy! All of the Australian team had dealings with him for their powder and bits and pieces.
I am sure that he will be...
A young and somewhat timid man was admitted to hospital with a badly upset stomach complaint.
As he lay in his bed on the fifth floor the spasms suddenly caused him to empty his bowels...
Police manning a random breath test station pulled in a car driven by an attractive blonde.
"Blow in this until I tell you to stop"
She does so and the cop looks at the reading and says
"Wow,...
Thanks mate - it was good stuff too!
Pity we can't get Vit in Australia anymore.
Cheers

There is no importer of N133 in Australia at the moment. Fortunately, I managed to score a couple of six packs of N133 2009 some time ago. These are one kilo bottles (about 2.2 pounds). Shoots well...
Not that long ago I was at a Nationals here in Australia and a bunch of us were having a few beers after the shoot.
I started to laugh and when they asked why I said:
You know, we all used to talk...
A very sad loss.
Tony and Faye walked into the Four Points Motel in Calgary and she gave me a big hug - she always remembered that we shot next to each other at the WBC in Brisbane in 1995.
A...
WOW!
You would have to be a bit stiff to shoot a .056 group and have someone pip you in a yardage.
Great shooting there.
I use a Stolle Panda left feed right eject for 6mm PPC.
I find the Stolle action a little 'faster' than the BAT, but one must still keep some Friction Free or the like on the bolt for running those...
That is indeed sad news. I met Ron in 1980 when I visited Kelblys range for the NBRSA Nationals. He was very helpful and sold me a brand new Wichita Mini action which I shot for many years. In later...
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't this stuff originally used for the electric cannons on the gunships in Vietnam?
Looking forward to catching up with you folks again.

See my post under "How super feet work"
Super feet work extremely well for me.
A number of ranges now insist that they MUST be used by shooters. I think the WBC held in France was one of these as was the WBC in 2013 in Sydney. This is...
My thoughts entirely.
I also find that a dot is much better to use when there is mirage around.
I was given some Eley Tenex from a deceased estate a while back
It was old...like in the original orange paper boxes with the bullets all jammed in together.
The bullets had a bit of a whitish...
One well known Australian bench rester painted all of his rifles green, because he didn't want his wife to know how many he had!!!
Yes, we are diminished.
When I first started in benchrest around 1975, I ordered a complete DGA LV rifle in .222 from Ed Shilen. The Australian Shilen distributor was right here in my home town of...
Interesting thread.
I too have recently experienced loose primers for one of my barrels.
I believe that how you fire-form them has a lot to do with it.
I normally fire-form using three grains less...
