I have or had most scopes mentioned here, all great.
The single best varmint scope I have ever had , if you can locate one, is the Leupold 8.5X25 with their varmint hunter reticle. Zero unnecessary...

Probably???
“All” can often be an elusive term. That said, copper tends to promote more copper so while it sounds like you have less than problematic fouling, with today’s solvents, bare metal is attainable.
I shot next to Keith Richards once and he never touched his guitar tuner......just sayin.
Buy a better scope.
Unless it is real bad, still use it. IF you relube it you cannot shoot it in a sanctioned match.
Well these days, not much of the benchrest community would have a current interest, but as to your specific question, a well kept gun sans sights.....that’s a very fair price.
Anything that vintage,...
Rifles must meet weights in, all up, as shot condition.
The market numbers deal comes directly from their HQ press release.
If there is another, I would love to hear it.

They have said, explicitly why. The Benchrest market, at present is too small for continued production and when supplies go and if demand returns to a reasonable...
I would never buy a variable for short range BR.
In a well documented long term review of dozens of scopes, variables had a fairly higher incidence of POI shift.

As to your primary question, any decent automotive surface cleaner/wax remover. It’s cheap, safe, and leaves zero residue which is why it is used to prep for paint. A quart is fairly cheap.
True dat, friend Harper, true dat.
Yes Francis, AND I knew Henry the Navigator and you’re no Henry the Navigator.
P.S. he never shot higher than a 247.
Francis, always great to hear from the one guy that’s never shot a rimfire match in his life.
I’m sorry, I thought I heard the birthday clown thing.....could be wrong.
Francis, you recently...
Pete, didn't you retire from this to become a kids birthday clown or some such ?
That’s absolutely right, just what I did.....a couple years ago.
Yes, and I have never seen nor heard of any situation resembling that.
Usually somebody is inadvertently doing something and a simple mention after a card resolves the issue......that’s it.
These...
Tony,
Here’s a final bit of Sporter trivia you may be unaware of.
You may or may not have ever heard of Tony Larson, from the midwest, he made wonderful carbon/redwood BR stocks, but did you...
IR 50 site, Rules, pg. 23, 8.7 Sportsmanship.
And essentially as the rule has always been interpreted, if it’s distracting to other shooters, they are not wrong, you are.
Myself, I advocate a...
