My 6MMBR Rifle
This is the 6MMBR Hart barreled rem 700 I have been bragging about
...I really like this gun...It is a turn neck chamber .270 one in ten twist rifling...I installed a Timney trigger & refinished & epoxy bedded the old 40 X wood stock...The scope is an 8 X 32 BR model nightforce ...weighs about 13 lbs...with that scope...I shot a few groups with it today...& it fooled me the 75 & 80 gr bullets did best...My 100 & 88 gr match loads were nothing to write home about in all that variable winds....I took your advice & built some wind flags..THANKS TO ALL HERE FOR THE ADVICE & ENCOURAGEMENT..mike in ct

6mm BR
Great looking rifle and even better looking groups, CONGRATS. Try the 80 grain Fowler's, you'll fall in love.

Mike in CT: Great looking Rifle and its obviously shooting quite well for you I see!
You have reason to brag - and I hope the accuracy improves with time and more load testing! I had to "settle" for a custom 6mm BR several years back as I had been trying for several years to get a factory 40XB-BR in 6mm BR for my uses! The wonderful Riflesmith and optical genius who I had make my Rifle is a frequent poster on this board but I think he is so busy anymore he is not doing much Rifle smithing - so I won't mention his name! Anyway my Rifle was built on a Remington XP-100 action and like yours I used a long, heavy, Hart barrel. I used a stock very similar to the design of the 40X stock you have but mine is a McMillan Marksman style (fiberglass). I went with a Jewell underlever safety style trigger and my Rifle was smithed without a recoil lug between the action and the barrel! To say this Rifle shoots well is an understatement of the first magnitude! I had my chamber throated short for the then new Nosler 55 gr. Ballistic Tips and it shoots these bullets extremely well - but it REALLY comes to life when I use the 68 gr. Euber bullets in it! I have a Leupold 8.5x25x40mm scope on it and it has shot groups on very calm days in the high one's and low two's. I am away from my loading log book so can't quote exactly its normal average 5 shot 100 yard groups but if its in the fours then its DEFINITELY operator error that day! I really enjoy the 6mm Remington Bench Rest caliber and one day plan on having another Rifle built in this fine caliber. Wishing you continued good luck with your handsome Rifle! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy |

I find it interesting that your 80 grain Berger load is almost like mine. I have a Savage 110 action with a 27 inch PacNor Barrel in a SSS benchrest stock. the barrel is their 3 groove 1/12 twist and the best so far is 0.218 for 5 shots and that is with the 80 Berger and 31.5 of Varget. The 12 twist is just about perfect for the 80's. Velocity is just a tad over 3100, like 3106 or so. Not real fast but itty bitty holes. The 12 twist just does not like the 66-68 grain bullets as well. Best on them is 0.245. That is with either 31.7 or 33.0 of N135. Velocity with the 66 and 31.7 N135 is about 3340. I have not chronoed the 33.0 load......Don
