I am sorry for your loss, I have relatives that I think less of than my rifles.

If you would describe them then perhaps one of the members of this forum will spot one or both at a swap meet, gunshow etc.

I personally would not want them back as stolen guns tend to be treated poorly. However, I would definitely want the SOB that stole them to be punished.

Put some detail out there:
1) Where
2) Time of day
3) Description, etc.

It is a small world out there and it might help to have many people keeping their eyes out for you.

Right, Lou,
Some helpful info is needed. All I could surmise from dcbears post is that he is a bear(that lost some rifles), probably with a drivers license that owns a pickup truck that lives somewhere in the D.C. area, probably in the woods. But I could be wrong.

Best,
Dan Batko

Something smells here.....

If I had two rifles stollen the makes, models, serial numbers, calibers, description, scopes, make, model and serial numbers, stocks, make model and colors, the smith's and stocker's name, along with pictures of the guns would have been on every major shooting website within hours of the loss.

A post showing up almost a month after the fact that is extremely vague seems strange to me.

I believe the rifles are the ones stolen frorm butner just 25 yards or so from where people were sitting.
I am a local dealer and gunsmith,(reserve police officer),I get around to various other shops and gun shows, however I would not know these rifles without a full discription and/or pictures.
Please post this information. If I see them they will be recoverd and someone will go to jail.

If the victim of the theft doesn't want to provide details, then why in heck is he posting here? Just to have a group hug? To get a little sympathy?

If he wants his fellow forum members to be of any real assistance, then he needs to provide details. Otherwise, he may as well have said "My car wouldn't start this morning", or "I left my wallet at the diner." In reply, we'd be wondering, just like we are now, why he's bothered to say that here.

There are eight misspellings in your run-on sentence, for starters. That's some cheek, for you to be playing the "idoit" (sic) card.

More importantly, if you lost a dog, would you post a description of the dog, or would you expect the people who saw the "Lost Dog" notice to be psychic?

If your car was stolen, would you tell the police just that? Or would the coppers want to know when, where, and what? Fer crissakes....

The following is My response to dogdude's PM to me.

dogdude:

First, You message does not deserve a resonse.

Second, I have been in lawenforcement for 33 years. It tends to make me suspecious when all the parts don't fit together.

Third, I am a FFL in the Butner area as is Chuck Furness one of the other posters. We work on many custom rifles. It would be benefitial to know more so we could keep our eyes open.

Fourth, I shoot at Butner and have for years. I have left guns in my truck unlocked, and on the ground behind the line while working in the pits. I have nor any of the NSSC members ever had a gun stollen in the last 35 years.

Fifth, Nothing I said was not common sense. If you would go back and read my post I said nothing about DCBear. I spoke of his actions or the lack of and that they led to suspicion. If I had a gun stollen I would not be sad, I would be mad as hell and want to do everything in my power to get them back and prosecute the person or persons who took them.

Sixth, your PM serves no purpose and borders on prevocation.

Nat Lambeth

Angry stolen rifles

I know the fella well who had his rifles stolen,I'm not 100% sure which of his were taken but I'd be safe saying they were both Bat actions and both had MBR mcmill stocks and they would be wearing 40-45x leup. comp scope, not sure of the color of stocks.
I personally don't think the people who stole them would be looking at this site,so maybe dcbear will give more details.
As for the negative comments towards him, well thats BULLS*&T,if you don't know the guy why make any judgements towards him?
It is his choice on how he wants to handle this matter,it is sad though we would have to keep everything under lock-key when at a match.
