    Current Weikert conditions?

I am hoping someone can give me some current conditions of the camping area at Weikert. I have heard it is really wet and I may have to park over behind the club. I really hope it's not that bad. If so, it's gonna be a really long week. Joe Hynes

    Big upgrade today

I finally upgraded from the small drill press to a real mill. I have been wanting a bigger machine for many years and I finally found one near me that was in my budget range. It is an old machine but it is still in decent condition and will probably do anything I will need. It was...

    Holton MI Results

Here are the results from The Presidents Cup that was held at Holton this past weekend. The weather was a little chilly and a light and switchy wind. Sunday was just downright nasty. The temp stayed at just about 42* all day with a steady drizzle to hard rain. Congrats to all the winners...

BR Nationals compared to Sporting Clays Nationals.

Here is something I hope you will find interesting. It has been discussed many times about the numbers in this sport and how they are declining. One of the things brought up in every conversation is money and the cost to shoot BR. Well the sporting clays game seems to be doing OK. Here are...

    Front rest project

I have almost finished my front rest I am building. Just need to do something for a top now. Turned out pretty good for a first timer. It is a little heavier than I expected, haven't put it on the scales yet. Joe Hynes

    Evauluating a new chamber?

Ok, what do you guys look for when you have a new chamber in a barrel before you pull it out of the lathe? Do you just see if the throat is concentric to the rifling and there isn't much run out? Any other things to look for with a bore scope? Joe Hynes

    My first chamber

Well it finally happened today, I cut my first complete chamber. I cut another partial one yesterday but screwed the threading up, so I had to cut it off and start over. I am very happy with the way it finished up. I did the Jackie Schmidt quality control after everything was finished and...

    Latest project, rest base

I have just about finished a base for a rest I am building. It has turned out ok, nothing to write home about. I have figured out I really want/need a mill. Seems like there is always something else you want. Joe Hynes

    Latest project, Spider chuck

I have been working on this the last couple days. I have picked up some great ideas from you guys on here. It seems to work pretty good. I really needed to do something since my lathe was real long through the headstock. In the stock form it was about 27 inches, now I can easily chamber a 20...

    HSS tooling?

I just bought this and was wondering if it is good stuff? I have been reading that the HSS is better for the small lathes so I bought some of these. I got almost 20 pcs for under $40. The small ones are 1/2" and a couple are 5/8". Figured they had to be better than the cheap import stuff.
